How To Get A TV Set Box For TV Digital Migration

South Africa will transition to digital broadcasting in 2022. This means that broadcast TV channels will shift from analogue to digital transmission. Digital TV offers better quality pictures and sound, improves EPG features, and has room for more channels.

The Cost of Purchasing a TV Set Box

As we all know, the government has been pushing for TV digital migration for a while now. This is because the old analogue system is not only outdated, but it’s also not very efficient. Digital migration will help improve the quality of our TV reception, as well as save on electricity costs.

But one of the biggest obstacles to digital migration has been the cost of purchasing a TV set box. These boxes can be quite expensive, and many people simply can’t afford to buy one.

Thankfully, there are a few ways that you can get a TV set box without spending a lot of money. Here are a few tips:

1. If your combined household income is under R3500 P/M, then you qualify for a government subsidized TV Set Box for free, to get one visit your local post office or visit this page for more.

2. If you don’t qualify for a free TV Set Box, the you have to buy one yourself or get a Satellite Tv Installer to come and install it for you. The most affordable TV Set Box you can get on the market at the moment is OVHD which has a once off cost of R600 excluding installation and no monthly subscription as compared to DStv.

3. If you already have a satellite dish and a decoder in your household then you don’t need to worry as you are already covered.
