Can I share My DStv Subscription With My Neighbor
So you have landed on this page because you are trying to find out if you can share a DStv subscription with your neighbor. The simple answer is this question is yes you can share DStv subscription with a neighbor, however there are some conditions that have to be met and this article will guide you in making sure that you understand the conditions that need to be met in order for you to be able to achieve this.
Smart LNB
So the first condition that you need to meet is to have a smart LNB. The reason for this is because to share your DStv subscription and to be able to watch different channels at the same time, you need to activate DStv XtraView and to pay an Access Fee of R100 (As of 2021) per month per extra decoder in addition to the monthly subscription costs.
Compatible Decoder
In addition to the smart LNB, you also need to make sure that both of you have XtraView compatible decoders. How then do you know if the 2 or 3 of you have XtraView compatible decoders, fret not as we will give you the answer to that question for you.

DSTV Settings For HD PVR Decoders Using A One Cable System
Press MENU on Your DSTV Remote Control
- then Go to ADVANCED OPTIONS – press OK
- When Prompted, you need to Enter Pin code 9949
- Go to NETWORK SETUP press OK
- Home Network Dstv IS20 PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THE DEFAULT VALUES (Frequency should be 11594 and Symbol rate 27500 )
- Press P+ button on the remote to access new networks.
Additional Network 1 Dstv IS20
- Go to FREQUENCY Left key to remove numbers, then enter 11210
- Go to SYMBOL RATE Left key to remove numbers, then enter 30000
- Go to USE NIT – right key to SMATV
- Press P+
Additional Network 2 Dstv IS20
- Go to FREQUENCY Left key to remove numbers, then enter 11250
- Go to SYMBOL RATE Left key to remove numbers, then enter 30000

Press the yellow button on the remote.

You can conveniently pay for your DSTV Multichoice Account at Spar. You need to have one of the following in order t make a successful payment, your Smartcard Number, your account number or your ID Number.
Please note there is a R50 re connection fee charged by Multichoice if your subscription has been suspended.

In short yes and no, Yes you can use your DSTV Decoder at another house. Your Decoder is paired with your smartcard, so in order for the decoder to work, all you need to do is you carry your main decoder with the linked smartcard.
To make this simple to understand, there are times that people move to a new neighborhood or complex and get their DSTV up and running without having updated DSTV about a change of address.
If your decoder is linked through extra view, then it will not be able to work as that decoder needs to be connected to the main decoder in order to get signal.
It is important to note that there might be compatibility issues which will arise from having a decoder which is not compatible with the existing DSTV Setup.
